Hi, I'm Dan Barrios,
your next Congressmember for Texas' 32nd District!

I grew up in Brownsville, Texas, in a working-class family that faced real hardship. My mother struggled financially to make ends meet. Like many families, we worked hard every day just to get by and to create a chance at a better future. Those early experiences shaped who I am and gave me a deep understanding of how difficult life can be for families trying to get ahead. Education and hard work opened doors for me, and I’ve never forgotten how transformative opportunity can be, or how easily it can be out of reach for too many people.

I built my life in North Texas the same way many families do, by working hard, staying involved, and giving back to the community that gave me opportunities. I earned my MBA in Strategic Management from the University of North Texas, and have been active through organizations like the YMCA, PTA, and my church. I served in leadership roles with the American Red Cross, including as one of the initial responders following the devastating 2015 Garland/Rowlett tornado. I’ve spent time mentoring individuals in state jails, helping people navigate second chances and rebuild their lives. Professionally, I built a career in executive sales and later in education, teaching business courses at the high school and college level and connecting real-world experience to the classroom.

Today, I’m proud to serve as the Richardson City Councilman for Place 3, bringing a practical, solutions-focused approach to local government, listening first, working across differences, and staying accountable to the people I serve. Now, I’m running for Congress because families across Texas’ 32nd District deserve leadership that understands their struggles, respects their work, and delivers results, not politics as usual. I believe government should expand opportunity, strengthen communities, and support people who are working to build a better life. That’s the approach I bring to public service, and it’s the one I’ll bring to Congress.
